Our Busy Relaxing Weekend

In my last post I didn’t really tell you what we did all weekend.  It was a very nice busy weekend.  On Saturday we got up early, Matt went to the gym while us girls stayed home and made ourselves presentable!  Then we headed over to the west side, ate breakfast, and went to the outlet mall to get Gracie some fall clothes.  We had a cold snap last week and I was so unprepared.  It (of course) warmed back up but at least when it does get cold then I will be prepared.  We got a lot of cute clothes…we went the right weekend let me tell you.

After we got back home, we washed both bikes and my car before we headed over to the dirt bike race.   Matt works with a guy who has a 6 year old son who races dirt bikes.  He is actually nationally ranked.  It was a lot of fun to watch the little ones race.  Gracie actually slept through some of it and didn’t mind the noise too much.  They also had Monster trucks which she liked until they did donuts and then it got too loud for her!  Either way it was a fun time.

Sunday, Matt went for a long ride (over 300 miles) that took him all day.  So Gracie and I headed to the park.  A friend told me about this gorgeous park so I decided to try it out.  I want to get some pictures outside for her 2 year old announcement things I am hoping to do but Gracie wasn’t in the picture taking mood.  She just wanted to play.  She was quite fussy most of the day.  By the time we got home I realized she was running a fever and her cough was getting worse.  She also had a pretty nasty runny nose.  So needless to say I was home with her today.  There has been a nasty cold going around the school so I thought I would make a pre-emptive move and try to ward off the worse of the cold to keep her somewhat healthy.  I woke up not feeling that well either so it was a good thing I took the day off.

So that is about it for our weekend.  It was busy and fun.  Now we just have to get through the rest of this week! :)

Excited about the slide!

Saturday Morning Routine

Well, I thought I would post a quick blog as I am sitting here listening to Wonder Pets.  I will forever hear this theme song in my head.  If you have visited in the last 6 months I am sure you have it in your head too…if not that particular one, then “Dance Gymbo Dance.” (Sorry Aunt Joy)  Anyway, we woke up early today.  Matt headed down to the gym first thing and Gracie and I got our baths for the day.  We usually don’t give Gracie a bath in the morning but she had cake at daycare yesterday which of course involved icing in the hair.  So, she fell asleep before bath time last night so she had to have one this morning.  After Matt gets back from the gym, we are going to head over to the outlet mall and get Gracie some more clothes.  For the first time in her life, I have a shortage of clothes.  It is mainly long sleeves and pants that we have a shortage of.   Of course, it is going to warm up again this week, but last week was cooler and I wasn’t prepared.  So, I am hoping to find some good deals.  I am sure we will…we have a Carter’s outlet and Osh Gosh outlet, yes, I know, I am lucky!  Tonight we are off to the races…well dirt bike races, to support our friends 7 year old who races nationally.  I am sure we will have some pictures!  Well, tomorrow Gracie and I are off to the park for a photo shoot in preparations for her 2nd birthday…it is less then 3 months away!  I promise to have pictures tomorrow!  Have a great Saturday….

Potty Time

So Gracie had another 1st tonight.  She sat on her little potty.  She has been interested in potty training a little bit…knowing her words for it, telling us when she is “stinky", etc.  Well, she looked at me tonight and said “pee pee.”  So I thought, might as well try it and see.  She loved sitting on the potty but never went.   I called all the grandma’s to tell them the good news.  Well, as I was on the phone with my mother-in-law, Gracie said “poo poo.”  I asked her if she wanted to go poo poo in the potty and she shook her head “no.”  So I continued my conversation with Mom and the next thing I know I look over at Gracie who is now looking at me with the most innocent face and I noticed she pooped on the floor.  I was so grateful we have tile floors.  I laughed so hard…I mean come on…it’s time like this when being a mom totally pays off.  Just the thought of her pooping on the floor just cracks me up.  Now, when she is reading this blog in her scrapbook in about 10 years, I am sure she is not going to appreciate the story, along with the pictures I have below of her on her potty…but they are just too good not to share! :)

Too cute not to share.  Notice Gracie’s arm around Harley with Daisy behind them.

Morning Breakfast

Well, I have to admit…as much as I am not looking forward to working the closing shift.  I am sitting here eating breakfast with my girl and she is talking up a storm.  She keeps telling  me that everything is yummy.  I am enjoying this little morning routine.  I am just bummed that I have to take her to school.  I hope that she is able to transition ok today.  Both of us hate when she has to change her schedule.

She also has picked up a new phrase that we don’t say very often in our house…it’s usually to the dogs when they just won’t start barking.  Yesterday during lunch, Harley in particular wouldn’t stop yipping and Matt told her to “Shut up".  So did Gracie, a lot.  She has also told them to “up” this morning.  We are going to have to stop using that phrase…it’s not one of my favorites by any means!

Well, no pictures this morning but I will post some later.  I think we are going to take Gracie to the park sometime this week…it is supposed to cool down so it should be fun!

Frosty’s & Adventure Zone

Well,  we had a pretty calm weekend in our house.  It was pretty much a chill weekend.  I did some fall cleaning on the garage and got some stuff ready for our yard sale we might have in a couple of weeks.  We did meet some friends for dinner last night which was a good time.  Gracie has such a good time and is such a good toddler when we go out.  I love that she is a social  child.  Today we went to a birthday party for a friend’s daughter.  It was at a place called Adventure Zone which is a lot like Chuckie Cheese with Go Carts, Bumper Boats, Putt Putt Golf, and a Toddler Area which was our life saver.  Gracie loved the jumping balloon.  We have been jumping on everything…the couch, her crib, our bed, on the floor…she loves jumping.  We just put away her small jumping balloon thing here at home and I am wondering if that was a good idea.  I am sure we will break it out again for the four day weekend.

I am sure I have shared with you that Gracie has a very fond taste for Wendy’s Frosty’s.  When we go to Wendy’s we always get at least 3 so we can put a few in the freezer.  Gracie will go to the freezer and say “froppy.”  She knows when they are in there.  It is just too cute.  It amazes me how much her vocabulary is just exploding.  She is starting to associate animals with the sounds they make.  Her newest one is puppy goes woof…although it sounds more like “hoof” “hoof.”  She cracks me up.  I will try to get a video of it soon.

Well, it is the start of another work week and it is my first week closing after bring at the MEPS for almost a year and half now.  I am not happy about not getting off until 5:30.  It is going to drive me crazy but it is only for a week.  Gracie, I am sure, is not going to love it…but again it is only for a week.  Happy Monday…ugh I have Monday’s!

Enjoying her “Froppy.”

A Few Pics & a Hail Storm

Being in El Paso, in the 90 degree heat, did I ever think I was going to see a storm like this.  We had the loudest thunder, heaviest rain, and biggest hail I have ever seen.  The funny thing is that the storm cloud wasn’t even that dark.  I heard the thunder first and decided to look up the weather online.  I saw it was heading our way and the area was red…red always means bad.  I called Matt who was on his way home and eventually got stuck in traffic thank goodness considering 10 minutes after I called him, the hail started.  Daisy and Harley were running around barking, Gracie was clinging to me because she didn’t know what to do, and I wanted to watch.  I love storms.  I had a brief fear of them when I lived in Jacksonville and getting caught in a really bad one.  Anyhoo, the neighbors all had broken windows, some had roof damage, and trees or bushes destroyed.  We only had a few minor issues, but I am going to call the reality company we rent from tomorrow just to make sure they don’t want to make any checks.

Our back yard afterwards…the grass took a huge beating.

A decent size piece of hail on our welcome mat…this was after it had melted for about 30 minutes.

Happy Girl

First of all, I know, it’s been awhile.  I just haven’t had the energy at night to update.  Quite honestly, there hasn’t been a whole lot going on.  Gracie is still Gracie doing all of her cute stuff and we have been busy busy busy with normal every day life stuff.  I have been so tired that I haven’t even been taking all that many pictures.  I did however get a video of her saying some of her words.  She says so many now I couldn’t even count them.  She is starting to say “no” and “mine” a whole lot more too!  Well, I didn’t want to put off this post any longer, plus I promised some of you a video so here it is and enjoy the rest of your week.  I promise to post pictures and update some more in a few days!  Tuddles for now!

First steps to a potty trainer!!!

We have had our first step in potty training.  We have been working with words to go with the pee and poo thing.  Well, I was just sitting on the floor folding clothes and Gracie came up to me and told me “stinky.”  This is the first time she has told me she needed her diaper changed or at least to inform me she was going to need one!  I know we still have a long way to go, but maybe I will get lucky and have an early potty trainer.  I know, I should keep on hoping.  Just thought all you mom’s out there could give us a “yay” for potty training!

Our little fishy

Yesterday we took some time to run over to the indoor pool.  I can’t wait until we are not in El Paso so we can take advantage of an outdoor pool.  Gracie turns red in like 30 minutes even if she has 75 SPF sunscreen on.  El Paso isn’t called the Sun City for nothing.  Anyway, we headed over to the pool.  Gracie loves to swim.  She knew where we were as soon as we pulled up.  Other then that we have had a couple of relaxing days at home.  I have to take Gracie back to the doctor tomorrow to follow up on her ear infection.  We also have to take Daddy to work since it is supposed to rain and we are pretty sure his alternator went out in his truck.  Well, nothing else really to talk about so here are some pictures from the pool….
