Daddy’s Home

Matt is finally home!  Gracie and I are so excited to have him home and Matt is especially glad to be back home.  His plane came in on time which was great.  Gracie and I were watching for him down the escalator but Daddy went down the stairs so we missed him.  He called me on the cell and we finally met up.  When Gracie saw him, she was in shock…I don’t think she really believed it was him, but it only took a second for her to him with a big smile on her face.  Once we got home we ordered pizza and went to bed.  We were all so tired.  I didn’t get a whole lot of pictures because we were all excited to see each other.  But here are a few:

Gracie loved playing with the balloons she picked out for her Daddy.  Too bad we let them go by accident when we went outside.

Saturday we got up, took a walk around the neighborhood, then headed to the west side for an early lunch and Gymboree.  Well, we enjoyed our lunch so long that we ran out of time and decided to not go to Gymboree.  Gracie was already getting tired which meant we would have had a major breakdown at Gymboree which would have made her last day there not fun at all.  Once we got home, Matt went for a bike ride.  I think he missed his bike a lot while he was gone.  Gracie and I just hung around the house until he got home.  Then we spent the night spending time as a family.  Gracie fell asleep early so Matt and I watched a movie.  It has been nice having him home.

We ate at the table as a family for the first time in awhile and Gracie loved Daddy’s favorite meal of homemade chicken nuggets and peas, cheese, and potatoes!

Gracie’s 1st Baking Lesson

Alright, I am not going to lie, we made the simplest cake, but we had so much fun.  I wanted to make a cake for Matt (he comes home today) to congratulate him on being “Top Honor Grad” for his class that he has been at for the last 6 weeks.  So I enlisted Gracie to help me out.  She did such a great job.  I can’t wait for all of us to enjoy our efforts tomorrow night!  Here are some pictures from our lesson!

Gracie’s Favorite Things

Harley bike. She rides it every day around the house!

20 Months 9 (85)

Puzzles.  She has three that she will drag out and put them together over and over again.  She is such a smart girl.

20 Months 2 (66)

Swimming.  This girl could go every day and spend hour upon hours in there.

19 Months 12

Daisy and Harley.  As much as she tells them “no no” she always wants to let them out of their kennel when they are up.  She loves to play with them and she even picked Harley up for the first time tonight…I wish I would have had my camera!

19 Months 8 (21)19 Months 8 (18)

Outside.  She loves being outside.  I am glad we are starting to cool off a bit…in the 90’s at least so we can take more advantage of being outside.  She loves to run around the back yard!

20 Months 1 (73)

Books.  Right now this is her favorite book.  It is a super sweet book and I recommend it to all Daddy’s girls.  It is a song made into a book or vice versa.  The chorus is:

Dance me Daddy, dance me around.  Don’t let me feet ever touch down.  There’s nothing better then being your girl.  If I am your princess, then you are king of the world.”

20 Months 8 (44)

Bath time.  Every time we change our diaper upstairs Gracie asks if she can take a bath.  Tonight she said “Bahhh, pees.”  Cutie patootie!

20 Months 9 (8)

Running.  Walking is optional.

20 Months 9 (62)

Mink.  That is Gracie language for her pacifier.  I had made the decision to have her broken of it by the time she is two which means we have been working on it now.  But she went straight for her fingers so I am going to give it a bit and then try it again in about a month.

20 Months 9 (72)

Dolls.  She loves putting her dolls nighty night.  You can see that tonight it was her bears that had to go nighty night!  She usually likes to take one of her dolls with her when we go somewhere.

Lots going on…

Wow, now I can’t tell you what’s been going on because it all seems like a blur.  I spent all last week trying to find the time to sit and blog.  When I did find the time, I really didn’t have much to say.  Gracie is doing much better with her bruise.  She actually healed quite quickly.  With in a few days the bruise had already started to turn yellow.  I was glad that the injury looked worse then it actually was…I hate when our little girl is in pain.

Friday night we had a “Back 2 School Family Bowling Night” sponsored by our Readiness Group (a group that supports the families in the MEPS…it’s a military thing.)  We had a good time.  Gracie didn’t get a chance to bowl due to the fact that there were a lot of kids there and quite honestly I was so nervous that one of them running around swinging balls where going to bonk her in her head. There were times that I was going to be back in the ER! ha ha!

Saturday we went to our second to last Saturday of Gymboree.  We thought this weekend was going to be our last one since Matt was supposed to come in Saturday morning, but we found out that he is actually going to be able to come home on Friday!  So we are excited!  So this coming Saturday will be our last day and both Mommy and Daddy will be able to go.  I think Daddy has plans to take us out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  He likes to spoil his girls.

Saturday night my friend Jamie came over for a “Girl’s Night.”  We simply ate chocolate snacks and watched movies that our husbands are not interested in seeing.   We had a great time and Gracie always enjoys when Jamie is around.

Sunday we just hung around the house and got some stuff done.  Actually it was more just hanging out in our jam jams.  Precious went home Sunday night…Gracie misses her.  She asks for “puppy” a lot.

Today, I took her to the doctor to get her eyes checked.  I have had a few questions about them so I thought I would just schedule her appointment.  I knew it was nothing big but sometimes you just have to hear from the doctor’s mouth. It’s a good thing I took   her because lil’ miss has an ear infection and possibly has pink eye.  She wasn’t for sure about the pink eye because she had just been crying but she gave us some medicine if it does develop.  The good news is she has grown another 2 inches.  I thought she went through another growth spurt…she is 31 inches tall (10th percentile) and 25 lbs (40th percentile).  The doc went ahead and did another full exam on her since she was there.  Gracie is in tip top shape.  The doc said to keep doing what we are doing.

Well, here is some pictures of our weekend.  Look for “Gracie’s favorite things” post tomorrow.  It seems like everyone is doing a favorite things so I thought I would jump on board.  Have a good week!  It’s only 4 more sleeps until Friday!

Doesn’t she look so thrilled to be there! ha ha

Too cute…if you notice the bracelet on her wrist, she now has to wear one every day at school to notify the teachers she has an allergy to bananas.  Well, she LOVES it.  Gracie throws a fit every night when we take it off.  It’s so funny!

Update…

Gracie is doing perfectly fine.  I know a lot of you were worried about her but she is just bee-bopping around the house like nothing is wrong.  She is a little fussy tonight but I think it is because both of us are tired from yesterday.  I don’t have any pictures but I thought I just help you get over your worries about Lil’ Miss Gracie.  Have a good day!

It is always inevitable…

Being a military wife there is always one thing you can count on…as soon as your spouse leaves for more then 2 weeks, something is going to happen.  Your car is going to break down, an unexpected pricey bill is going to come in, or your child (or children) get sick or hurt.  Well, guess where I spent most of my day today…in the ER.  About 9:45, the daycare called the front desk at work (why not my phone you ask, it’s because they called my husband first, then called my emergency contacts…does anyone see where they called me?) Well, I didn’t answer the phone, although I was sitting at the front desk and over heard my co-worker tell the caller that both of my emergency contacts where on vacation (surprising right?).  Well, the daycare finally asked for me where I found out that Gracie was playing with a wagon and it fell over as she was climbing into it.  The wagon knocked her over and she fell forehead first into the concrete.  I walked into the daycare as I am talking to a friend to calm my anxiety on the way over there, and here is my precious baby girl with this HUGE knot on her head.  I thought I was going to loose my mind.  She smiled at me and said “Mama!”  I immediately calmed down because she didn’t seem to be in distress by did whimper because I am sure she picked up on my stress.  They told me that I needed to take her to the doctor so off to the ER I went.  I knew it would be pointless to call for an appointment since it is Monday and the clinics never have appointments anyway.

So long story short, we got there, she was triaged at 10:25, saw the Pediatrician at 4:30 and I was home by 5:30.  She said that she was very sorry about the wait but at least we were able to monitor Gracie to see the seriousness of her wound.  Let me tell you she was all over that ER talking to everyone, pushing her stroller around, eating snacks, taking a nap (I got it okay’d first), etc.  Let me tell you, her personality was in full effect.  One would wonder if she was even injured.  Well, the doctor wasn’t too concerned and said that it looks worse then it was considering Gracie didn’t even flinch when the doctor was pressing on it.  So she sent us home to rest and relax which my daughter does not believe in.  But the good news is she is fine and telling me that it is time for night night.  So I am going to leave you with a few pictures of her boo boo and you can tell it looks much worse then it actually is!  Have a great Tuesday…ahhhh…the life of an Army wife!

FYI…

I posted two different posts so don’t forget to read about Gracie growing bigger in her height and her feet!

Our Saturday

Today was our Mommy &  Gracie day.  I woke up knowing I wanted to be out of the house for awhile and decided to do a little bit of shopping.  After stopping at Payless to hit the BOGO sale, we headed to Tuesday Mornings.  Aunt Joy introduced me to this store (and discovered one closer to my house) that has great “after market stuff.”  For example, I got the cutest “peek-a-boo” book and Parent’s brand puzzle (since Gracie is so into puzzles right now) for $11.00.  I went to Target this afternoon and the same puzzle was $10.00.  It also has a bunch a neat house type stuff too.

After our little (it was really little I spent less then $20 bucks) we went to Chili’s for lunch.  When Matt has Daddy & Gracie days he always takes her out to breakfast and I realized that I haven’t ever taken Gracie out to a sit down restaurant just the two of us and I know it sounds silly but we had a blast.  While waiting for our food, we read her new book and the 2 we had in her bag.  Played a little bit, sang a little bit, and then we ate.  It was so nice, there was no cell phone going off, no distractions just a simple meal with my girl that I didn’t have to cook or clean up after.  It was nice.

It was off to Gymboree for our next to last Saturday there.  We are going to miss it but honestly, the last couple of weeks Gracie has been really fussy transitioning into the next activity.  She knows the schedule a little too well and even though when she is not fussy she is fun but when she is not happy, she is not happy.  So, it might be a good time to move on and do other things.

Well, I am finally off to bed, but here are a few pictures from today.  We are dog sitting and she loves Precious.  For some reason she thinks Precious is a play thing and not another puppy…she tries to put her “nighty night” a lot.  She also is very demanding towards Precious.  We were outside letting the puppies go potty and apparently Precious wasn’t moving as fast and she wanted her too, Gracie shoved her very gently (I was actually impressed it wasn’t a harder shove) in the booty and told her to “go.”  It was really hard to explain to her not to kick puppies without cracking a smile.  Either way…that is the other dog you see in the pictures.

She likes to cuddle with Precious…Precious is a little more timid and less hyper then Daisy & Harley.

I just thought this was too cute.

It was “Through Day” today.  She was going through the ring on her own!  I was so proud of her!!!

20 Months 5 (20)

Size 5 & 2 inches!

Yet just another reminder that our little girl is growing up…she is up to a size 5 shoe and she grew 2 more inches.  Every three months I mark her height until we reach 2 and then we are going to do it every four.  Well, it was that time, if not a couple days past I think, and surprise, surprise…my suspicion was correct, she hit a growth spurt.

Then I took her to Payless because her teacher at daycare told me that her shoes are loosing their Velcro so it might be a better idea to send her in different shoes.  Well, the reason why I have been sending her in those shoes is because they are one of the 3 pair of shoes she has left that fit her.  So I sucked it up and went out to do shoe shopping.  Well, I got her a pair of size 5 (which are a tad too big) but she will get there I am sure.  I bought her two more sizes 5’s today that will stay on her feet a bit better.  I couldn’t pass these up aren’t they just too cute?

20 Months 4 (10)

This is us getting ready to head to daycare…I couldn’t resist taking a picture of her in her outfit.  These days it is easier to get a picture when she is buckled in so it is not blurry! LOL
