Being a military wife there is always one thing you can count on…as soon as your spouse leaves for more then 2 weeks, something is going to happen. Your car is going to break down, an unexpected pricey bill is going to come in, or your child (or children) get sick or hurt. Well, guess where I spent most of my day today…in the ER. About 9:45, the daycare called the front desk at work (why not my phone you ask, it’s because they called my husband first, then called my emergency contacts…does anyone see where they called me?) Well, I didn’t answer the phone, although I was sitting at the front desk and over heard my co-worker tell the caller that both of my emergency contacts where on vacation (surprising right?). Well, the daycare finally asked for me where I found out that Gracie was playing with a wagon and it fell over as she was climbing into it. The wagon knocked her over and she fell forehead first into the concrete. I walked into the daycare as I am talking to a friend to calm my anxiety on the way over there, and here is my precious baby girl with this HUGE knot on her head. I thought I was going to loose my mind. She smiled at me and said “Mama!” I immediately calmed down because she didn’t seem to be in distress by did whimper because I am sure she picked up on my stress. They told me that I needed to take her to the doctor so off to the ER I went. I knew it would be pointless to call for an appointment since it is Monday and the clinics never have appointments anyway.
So long story short, we got there, she was triaged at 10:25, saw the Pediatrician at 4:30 and I was home by 5:30. She said that she was very sorry about the wait but at least we were able to monitor Gracie to see the seriousness of her wound. Let me tell you she was all over that ER talking to everyone, pushing her stroller around, eating snacks, taking a nap (I got it okay’d first), etc. Let me tell you, her personality was in full effect. One would wonder if she was even injured. Well, the doctor wasn’t too concerned and said that it looks worse then it was considering Gracie didn’t even flinch when the doctor was pressing on it. So she sent us home to rest and relax which my daughter does not believe in. But the good news is she is fine and telling me that it is time for night night. So I am going to leave you with a few pictures of her boo boo and you can tell it looks much worse then it actually is! Have a great Tuesday…ahhhh…the life of an Army wife!
Up close
