Where Did She Go?

There are times when I see a picture or something comes out of Gracie’s mouth that just hits me like a ton of bricks.  She is getting so big.  When did 3 seem like a big girl?  I mean, I know she is going to be 4 in just a little over a month, but seriously, she is still 3.

Example #1:

October 5 (31)

I realize that I am not the first mom, nor will I be the last, to be in shock and awe at the ability of time to whiz on by and just like that, BAM!, you have a big little girl.  But come on time, can you just slow down a LITTLE!  I took this picture yesterday after I picked her up from school.  When I saw it on the computer screen, I thought to myself, “Who is this big little girl and where did she come from?”

Example #2:

I have a brand new obsession.  Pinterest.com.  If you have not gotten over to the website, go now…seriously…ok well wait until you finish reading, but after that GO!  It is full of all sorts of ideas.  My craft folder in my favorites is exploding with ideas.  I came across a craft blog that asked if you wanted to click on infant/toddler ideas or preschool.  Gracie falls into the preschool age now.  Again, can we say CRAZY?

I feel obligated to say that I am glad she is growing into such a delightful child.  Which is a honest and true statement.  However, and that is a HUGE however, she is just growing to fast.  When will time just slow down a little?  Before I know it, I will be out shopping for prom dresses and getting eyes rolled at me for some corny statement I just said.  Oh my my, I just can’t even think it!  But for now, I am the mom of a beautiful 3 year old that no matter how fast she grows, she will ALWAYS be my baby girl!

Whew, What a Week!

I honestly don’t have much to report on our front.  It was yet another crazy week at work (have I mentioned that I am so totally over being short in my office) which lead to a very relaxing weekend.  We did manage to get over to another pumpkin patch with the Elliott’s.  It was SO hot.  Last week when we went it was in the lower 70’s, Saturday lower 90’s.  We didn’t stay to awfully long.  Gracie loved pampering Dean and keeping him occupied.  I honestly don’t know what Gracie is going to do when we or the Elliott’s move.  She is attached to each and every one of them, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.  Since I don’t have a whole lot to share, I will share a few pictures from this weekend.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere

We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend up in Las Cruces.  Matt is going to the field in a couple of weeks and it was NICE out this weekend (it only reached 71 degrees!), so we headed on up.  It was a fabulous time.  They have so much to do at Lyle’s Farms.  There is old fashion tricycles, hula hoops (which Gracie rocked), painting pumpkins, tons of little play areas, slides, hay rides, and more.  Gracie was a happy little girl to say the least.  The pictures are random and in no particular order.

As I have said before, we really don’t get into Halloween in our household.  However, we now have a little girl who loves to play dress up, so we give a little.  Having said that, we did a little project with our feet.  We made ghosts….Gracie decided the ghosts needed clothes, so she drew them some.  Most of them are happy ghosts too…this girl just cracks me up.

We also decorated our pumpkins tonight.  It is early, but like I said Matt leaves for the field and next weekend we have a pretty full weekend.  So we decided to go ahead and carve.  Matt did a great job on the Jessie from Toy Story.

Odds & Ends

Just as promised, a funny story and a video for you all.

Shut the door

When Matt was in the closet putting clothes away.  Gracie wanted to shut the door.  So this is how it went….

Gracie: “Shut the doyie Daddy!”

Matt:  Shut the doyie? (Matt pronounced it the same way Gracie says it…)

Gracie: NO Daddy, the DOYIE.

This went back and forth a couple of times.

Gracie: UGH, Daddy, I am done.

Matt: Done with what?

Gracie: (with her hand up in the air) Talking to you…

This is the type of stuff that we are dealing with on a daily basis.  She is really starting to play school a lot.  There is a lot of babies coming to my lap in time out due to them not using listening ears.  She is still bossy as can be.  She is trying to see how far she can take it with Mommy and Daddy.  Well, let’s face it, she is trying to test all limits.  She understands them now, so she is seeing how far she can go until she gets into major trouble.  But the bossiness really isn’t that bad, I would say she is more assertive. ha!

The soccer game was ok this week.  Gracie is scared of one of her teammates so she is just runs after everyone.  However, she did kick the ball…but stopped after two kicks to celebrate how well she did.  Here is the video, look for the little girl pulling up her shorts…..yeah that is Gracie, keep your eye on her.  You can see her kick, kick, and celebrate!

Other then that it was a quiet week.  Oh who am I kidding?  I feel like I have been run ragged.  I am so glad we are getting a new employee in a couple of weeks.  Work is kind of stressful right now.  But that is ok, it is a 3 day weekend!   We have a lot planned so that is exciting.  I promise to have tones of pictures!

Dear Grace Anna~A New Blog

Since Gracie was born I have had a desire to write down stories, memories, or life lessons that I want to give Gracie when she gets older.  Stories about grandparents she will never meet, how leaving a hot curling iron on a wool skirt is never a good idea and will probably leave you grounded, or how we told everyone that we were going to have a baby.  As with a lot of projects, I am all talk and never follow through.  However, I was talking to a friend at work the other day, it donned on me that I should do it in a blog format.  Something that would be for everyone to contribute and not just my memories.  Of course, I realize that not everyone will contribute considering that for some of you, we have never officially met, but those who want to share a funny story, a sweet memory, or anything that you would like to tell Gracie, just email me the story and I will add it.  I have posted one post so far.  It’s an introduction for Gracie.  I am currently working on a “Story of Mommy and Daddy” but it is hard to put 14 years in just a few paragraphs! ha!  I would love for all of you to follow along.  I am not promising it will be something I will update on as frequently as I do this one, but it’s a great way to get started with this.  So if you want to jump over and take a look, click here.

I do have a few soccer pics to share and a couple of funny Gracie stories that I will be sharing with you tomorrow…hopefully…no promises.  But for now, I will let you hop on over to Dear Grace Anna!
